Loughborough University’s First-Ever Clothes Swap
Student Ambassador for Fashion Revolution | Ethical Fashion Advocate | Event Curator
During my final year at Loughborough University, I proudly took on the role of Student Ambassador for Fashion Revolution, a global movement championing transparency and sustainability within the fashion industry. Fuelled by a deep commitment to environmental responsibility and social justice, I launched Loughborough’s first-ever Clothes Swap—an interactive and educational event designed to inspire students and locals to rethink their relationship with fashion.
The event attracted over 400 attendees and raised more than £300 for Fashion Revolution. It offered participants an opportunity to refresh their wardrobes sustainably and affordably, while learning more about the environmental impact of fast fashion. With a focus on accessibility and community, I ensured the event ran under health and safety regulations with full disability access.
I led a team of volunteers and worked in collaboration with the University and LSU, adapting quickly to the dynamic flow of participants while ensuring everything ran smoothly. Also, I curated a pop-up marketplace featuring local ethical businesses—spotlighting thoughtful, independent design and championing circular fashion.
This experience cemented my passion for using creativity as a tool for environmental action. It wasn’t just about swapping clothes; it was about building community, raising awareness, and sparking change through accessible, joyful participation. The warmth, teamwork, and enthusiasm from everyone involved remains one of my proudest moments—and continues to influence how I shape sustainable, socially engaged projects today.
